Dimension 1 of 5

Strategy & Leadership

AI efforts succeed or stall in the leadership room long before they succeed or stall in production. This dimension measures whether AI direction in your organization is written down, owned by a named person, funded deliberately, and tied to outcomes your board would recognize. Enthusiasm is not strategy.

1 — not true · 2 — early signs · 3 — largely true, known gaps · 4 — reliably true, provable

We have a written AI strategy that names specific business outcomes and the dates we expect them.

A named executive owns our AI results, and that ownership appears in their performance goals.

AI work has a dedicated budget line we can point to, not money borrowed from other projects.

Our board or owners review AI progress at least quarterly, against measures agreed in advance.

We can state in one sentence which problems we will not use AI for, and why.

Before you start

What's inside the assessment?

Twenty-five statements across five areas: strategy, data readiness, team capability, execution, and governance. You answer them in your browser and see your overall score and band straight away. Joining our occasional insights list unlocks the full report — a per-dimension breakdown, your next moves, and a 90-day planning worksheet you can save as a PDF. A printable worksheet version is also available if you prefer to score on paper.

How long does it take to complete?

About 20 minutes. The questions are written for leaders, not engineers — you won't need to pull in your technical team to answer them, though their input can sharpen the result.

Is it really free?

Yes. We built it because the best client relationships start with an honest look at where you stand, not a sales pitch. Some people who take it become clients. Most simply leave better informed. Both outcomes are fine with us.

What do you do with my email?

We use it to deliver your assessment results, and occasionally to share thinking we believe is worth your time. You can unsubscribe with one click. We never sell or share your address. That's the whole arrangement.

Can my leadership team complete it together?

Yes — it's designed for that. Have each leader complete it independently, then compare scores. Where your CEO and CTO disagree about your AI maturity is often the most useful finding in the whole exercise.
